The Danish quartet Yung returns with their second full-length Ongoing Dispute, their first with PNKSLM. Arriving 5 years after their acclaimed debut A Youthful Dream on Fat Possum, Ongoing Dispute finds Yung leaping forward, with stronger and more confident songwriting and a broader sonic palette. After the receiving the attention of Pitchfork, NPR, Stereogum and more with the debut, Yung took a step back after returning home following multiple tours around the world and after reassessing themselves and the band they started working on what would become Ongoing Dispute, delivering on the early promise and firmly establishing themselves as one of the premier bands in their genre.

Two years ago, what Henrik Appel intended as a side project ended up becoming a full-scale re-invention. After years spent establishing himself as one of the key figures of Stockholm’s punk underground - cutting his teeth on bass with Martin Savage Gang and fronting his own outfit, Li-on’s Den - he released his first solo record, Burning Bodies, in 2018. It immediately raised the prospect of a follow-up and, when attempts to regroup with Lion’s Den to work on a sophomore album ended in the band’s amicable split, Appel returned to the solo coalface to think about what he wanted to say next.
Humanity was written over the course of more than a year, but like Burning Bodies, it was recorded in just four days at Studio Cobra, with Martin ‘Konie’ Ehrencrona again handling production duties. Many aspects of the album’s construction remained the same as last time out - including the contribution of Emma Lind, who again has co-written lyrics on several tracks - but the nature of Humanity is markedly different; as a musician and as a storyteller, it is the sound of one of Sweden’s leading underground lights embracing new possibilities. In turning his gaze outward, Appel has produced a deeply empathetic record at a time when we need it most - and expanded his own horizons in the process.

The Danish four-piece Yung is back with a new 7” Progress out August 28 via PNKSLM Recordings. After the release of their debut LP A Youthful Dream through Fat Possum Records in 2016, which followed a series of acclaimed EP’s that brought them the attention of Pitchfork, Stereogum, NPR, The FADER and more, and years of touring heavily, the Aarhus based quartet Yung decided to take a step back.
After some time spent reassessing themselves and finding common ground to push forward, the band returned to the studio to work on a follow-up to their debut record, and now, four years after the release of the debut, the band is set to share the first fruits of that labour in the shape of the new single "Progress", which is to be released digitally on June 12 and on 7” vinyl alongside the B-side “New Fast Song”.
Having refined their sound while embracing a wider palette of inspiration, Progress is also an early taste of Yung’s next full-length (due early 2021) and their first release with new label partner PNKSLM Recordings

Conceived over a bucks fizz binge in Birmingham UK early 2018, Cherry Pickles comes at you like the basement band you always wanted to start. Priscila B (guitar, vocals, songwriting) brings from Brazil her love of early Tropicalia and the kind of ‘let’s be bad’ attitude that can only come from a land chock full ofCatholic guilt. Mimi B (drums) brings her love of stripped down, bare essential rhythm. If two drums are good enough for Peggy O’Neill then they should definitely be good enough for you.
Together they bonded over a mutual love of 50s malt-shop-pop, 60s minimalist garage, no wave, fuzz and all forms of outsider art. ‘Art damaged’ isn’t a slur, it’s a compliment. Anything lost in translation with this transatlantic duo only doubles the charm. Following the band’s storming US debut at SXSW, Cherry Pickles’ debut LP ‘CherryPickles Will Harden Your Nipples’ was released on April 5th 2019 via PNKSLM Recordings and picked up fans all over the world. Their sophomore album THE JUICE THAT’S WORTH THE SQUEEZE continues the tradition... their arsenal of thrift store instruments may have expanded slightly but the enthusiasm and naiveté is still fully intact. This is not some clever re-imagining or ironic take on lo-fi, this is the real deal! All rolled together with gum, glitter and sticky tape the result is slightly wrong-sounding but infectious one-minute-garage-pop with gusto. One guitar, 2 drums, the basement band you always wanted to start! Technique and skill be damned, the message comes through strong and that message is “Don’t think about it, just cross the line and enjoy it.

These two vicious bastards (Black Mekon and his brother Black Mekon) were named after the legendary Black Mekong, illegitimate children of prostitutes visited by missionary preachers, abandoned to fend for themselves on the banks of The Mekong River. Their mobile church of jet-engine noise and pelvis-shattering drums has graced shores all over Europe, Japan, South America and the USA both headlining and at the personal request of Jon Spencer, Guitar Wolf, The Scientists, Kid Congo, King Brothers and more.
Over almost 15 years Black Mekon and his brother Black Mekon have put together a healthy back catalogue and while their most recent recordings have included their friends and family joining them, their latest effort THE LUMPINESS OF DEMAND is a quick detour right back the start, recorded fast and live as a two-piece with all the consideration and skill of a flaming, wingless jet engine heading for the mountain.
The song titles speak volumes: Feeling Good! Sick & Low! Real Good!! DON’T DIE!!! THE LUMPINESS OF DEMAND is an album for the clammy, desperate panic of RIGHT NOW!! The most raw, primitive, from-the-hip Black Mekon record since their debut, THE LUMPINESS OF DEMAND is a must-have broken-noise-blues record for everyone who just wants to play five finger fillet while the plane is crashing!

ShitKid is back with new full-length album 20/20 ShitKid out August 21 via PNKSLM Recordings, the second ShitKid full-length of 2020 following the Melvins & Paul Leary collaboration LP Duo Limbo/“Mellan himmel å helvete”. 20/20 ShitKid also marks the return of ShitKid as the solo project of Åsa Söderqvist, with bassist Lina Molarin Ericsson leaving after their US tour in support of Duo Limbo. Leaving the grunge-infused rock of Duo Limbo and the pop-punk of 2019’s [DETENTION] behind her, ShitKid’s now continuing down the path of the 2017 debut LP Fish and the This Is It EP, opting for an alternative pop infused sound ranging from synth pop to garage rock, while showcasing her growth as a songwriter and musician.

Punk Slime Recordings are proud to present the debut album from Stockholm quartet Initiates. Initiates is the new project from Swedish post-punk act Holograms’ (Captured Tracks) Andreas Lagerström, taking inspiration from shoegaze and ‘90s alternative rock with loud distorted guitar textures and dreamy melodies. Joining Lagerström is Oliver Brink on guitars, Joakim Andersson (ex Maim, ex Morbus Chron) on bass and Adam Hansson (Kerosene Kream, Caligulas Mamma) on drums, with Lagerström handling vocals and guitars. For their debut LP the band teamed up with producer Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona (ex Viagra Boys, ex Les Big Byrd) for a 26 minute long collection of nineties infused alt-rock, complete with Lagerström’s signature vocals.

Society and the media often act as if a woman’s entire existence and self-image depend on how fuckable they are, according to a very narrow standard. We’ve had enough of it. Heavy Breathing is a celebration of women who make no excuses for their sexuality, their body, their lifestyle or their opinions. We want to champion female sexuality owned by women themselves. The sexuality that’s full of cellulites, laughter, self love and free will! Through our music we’re saying F*ck You to the media’s and societies distorted image of us. You do you. Literally - buy an sfp2 and make it rain.

Thanks to some downtime due to the current pandemic, Luke's found some time to revive his Lucern Raze project, and over the past 6 weeks ended up making a full LP. Taking quite a dramatic turn from the garage-pop "Stockholm One" album released in 2015, "INTERNATIONAL BREAKDOWN" jumps between 90's big beat, lo-fi hip hop and psychedelic punk.
The project started as a collaboration track between Luke and rapper BRYSON THE ALIEN from Portland, Oregon, but quickly evolved into a full album, with Luke "remotely producing" friends across the world as they recorded guest parts for different songs, with contributions coming in from Black Mekon (Birmingham), BRYSON THE ALIEN (Portland), Chemtrails (Manchester), Cherry Pickles (Birmingham), Lou King (Manchester), ShitKid (Stockholm), Sudakistan (Stockholm) and Swampmeat (Birmingham).

Sindy, the project of Swedish musician Tom Serner, only released its acclaimed debut EP last summer, and is now set to release its debut LP HORROR HEAD, co-produced with Jacob Haage (El Perro Del Mar, HOLY etc). The album is a technicolor realisation of Serner’s vision; it filters his influences through a dream pop lens, recasting a decade’s worth of indie rock in the mould of Cocteau Twins, while taking influence from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Sebadoh and Daniel Johnston. At the centre of it all are Serner’s breathy vocals - think an off-kilter Elliott Smith, delivering what Serner himself describes as “seriously deranged four-chord songs”.
